Hillingdon Equalities Conference 2010
The conference has the following intended outcomes:
- To provide an overview of the local, regional and national strategic direction of the equalities sector and highlight the changes currently occurring to equalities legislation.
- To identify, explore and challenge delegates understanding of what equality is, what it means to them and the impact that equality issues have on their lives.
- To reopen dialogue locally on the barriers preventing equality being achieved in Hillingdon and identify solutions to eradicate such barriers.
- To deliver a taster equality and diversity training session, gain interest from delegates to pursue further training and set up a summer programme of Equality & Diversity Champion training.
- To encourage delegates to take ownership of the equality issues faced in Hillingdon by getting them to sign up to a personal commitment towards achieving equality.
- To develop a meaningful plan of action to achieve equality across the borough of Hillingdon, develop an Equalities Strategy for the borough and ensure buy-in from all statutory partners.
- To gain interest from delegates in forming an equalities consortium for the borough that will have responsibility for ensuring actions identified during the event are taken forward and positive change occurs as a result of the interventions undertaken.
