Mature volunteers wanted

More volunteers aged 55 and over are being sought in the borough for work with local voluntary and community groups.

Although any adults, over the age of 16, are welcome as volunteers, the number of those in the 55+ age group in Hillingdon currently needs a boost.

Being a volunteer is a fantastic way of widening your horizons, learning new skills and improving your social life. And if you are 55+ years old you probably possess that extra something which is invaluable to many local organisations ..... life experience.

For many voluntary and community groups the mix of the energy and enthusiasm of younger volunteers coupled with the skills and experience of mature volunteers make the ideal volunteer team.

Citizens’ Advice in Hillingdon is just one organisation looking for older volunteers and is campaigning to recruit those who are 55+ years of age. They are needed for all sorts of roles in the borough's three advice bureau and are holding an open day for volunteers on Wednesday 18th January 12’ 1.30pm – 3.30pm at their Uxbridge office at the Civic Centre.
